For Fark's sakes will someone ask her her name already? XD

(She's not mortal, haha).

There's another one too that changes your aura. Veronica had it.  I don't remember exactly what it was.

Maddening Halo? (Drives anyone looking at your aura mad).

Drakalicious nods.

Thus he takes off towards the armory.

Yep - Soul decoration, lets you change your aura for a certain number of nights, need Auspex 2, Obfuscate 2, Vicissitude 3

So Roland only saw Heldric's aura, not Heldric himself?
(this is an actual question, not a sarcastic one)

Yep, Heldric's facade stayed in place (even if his Obfuscate 2 power broke). He still looks like a perfectly normal, plain person here.

You can hide your aura if you are completely hidden (as they need to see you to see your Aura) or if you are using the Obfuscate 6 power Soul Mask.

I think there's also a Vicissitude/Obfuscate/Auspex combo discipline that lets you change your aura.

The girl (whose name no one has bothered asking for yet) seems perfectly fine, simply scared by the spectacle - particularly by the shadows, and now again Anton. It seems she is unused to Obtenebration.

His magic auspex lets him hear darkness and know heldric is cainite, but not that he's a nosferatu. XD

Heldric has a 5 in Obfuscate, that's a really high rating XD

You only need Auspex 2 to read Auras though.

Auspex lets you hear shadows now?  Since when has darkness been audible? XD

He wouldn't hear the shadows, he'd hear them disturbing the air (since the tendrils are solid - they have to be in order to affect others things).

And yes, Auspex lets you do that. Heightened senses is awesome (since it gets progressively stronger the higher your Auspex rating is).

Yep, their initiative

Well, if you (forge) don't care either, whatever.

It's just frustrating, feels like We lost a fight because We had incomplete/incorrect information about the scene.

I mean, am I going to have to ask you fifty questions before every action I take In order to get you to tell me pertinent information that would affect my decisions?

I can describe how that fight would have gone to you if Heldric wasn't struck by the tendrils if you'd like me to :p

The tendrils rush forward - with his Auspex Roland will more than likely hear them whistling through the air and push further forward right up to the wall (while dragging Kiril with him), out of their range.

Heldric, having somehow avoided the tendrils, appears. He strikes Roland - and likely does no damage, as Roland's fortitude and Stamina is larger than Heldric's entire damage dice pool

He then mesmerizes Heldric, who will then attack Kiril as he did before, right as the group appears. Roland then vanishes, unwilling to take that fight.

The only difference in events would be that Roland wouldn't have the necessary time/actions punch you in the face before talking to you. Obviously a very unlucky roll on his part would mean that he wouldn't notice the tendrils coming at him, but if you count on unlucky rolls you'll always lose. Heldric ends up mesmerized in every case (even if he spends willpower), and then Roland ends up running away in every case. You didn't lose the fight (he left before it really happened).

By the way, Heldric recognizes that the man used Vanish from Mind's eye (Obfuscate 4) just now. He probably hasn't gotten too far, but no one has remarked on his appearance so far so they probably aren't able to see him.

It also means that he almost certainly heard Lucien's comment just now, as well as Anton's.

Tendrils don't get more than one action per round.

Not an actual rule (there's no rule saying how many actions they get), but it's how Seth played it in Whitechapel and i'm inclined to agree (they're already quite strong enough).

Vampire The Masquerade / Re: Transylvanian Chronicles OOC 1
« on: January 29, 2015, 09:51:27 pm »
So you decided for him that he walked through a cloud of magic darkness, just because forge said he wanted to see the fight?

The choice was be a part of the game that is happening at the moment or don't be a part of it, yeah, I thought he'd walk through the Farking cloud.

Look, Seth, if Forge has a problem with how I described the situation and if he thinks his character would have done differently, then i'll be happy to re-do that entire goddamn round.

At the moment, it doesn't seem like he would stand behind the guy... But I don't care, let's get the story moving.

Even if he'd stayed to the edge of the wall, some of the tendrils would have struck him and pushed him forward, breaking his obfuscate (it was a narrow alley).

If he'd gone through the shroud, it was inevitable.

Vampire The Masquerade / Re: Transylvanian Chronicles OOC 1

The clouds summoned are uniform sizes. He wouldn't be physically capable of going around it, it was go through or no dice.

4064
Vampire The Masquerade / Re: Transylvanian Chronicles OOC 1
« on: January 29, 2015, 09:46:10 pm »
But you're assuming heldric moved past the shroud, you never told him the shroud was blocking the alley.

Forge did not know his character was standing between the shroud and Roland.

And I never said I was summoning. From the shroud that time,  that was the first time, when it was on his head.    I could have summoned them from Other places.

The alleys are narrow, you guys were at a dead-end and Forge wanted to see the fight. Didn't matter if I said he had to go through or not, he would have gone through (though yeah, I should have described it).

You said it's where you wanted to summon the tendrils from the first time, I went with the assumption that you were going to do it again since you said nothing to the contrary. You're supposed to specify where you summon the tendrils from.

Yes, you could have summoned them from other places. You didn't.

Vampire The Masquerade / Re: Transylvanian Chronicles OOC 1

Oh, and the only thing actually scripted about that entire encounter was you guys meeting Roland, him trying to bribe you, and him running away if he got into a fight (which was initially supposed to be any fight, but which I changed since the entire group wasn't present). So calm the Fark down there Seth.

When a character has plot armor, i'll probably let you know (because it pisses me off as much as it pisses you off, and if I can i'll try and rewrite the story to get rid of it) - don't complain about it otherwise.

4067
Vampire The Masquerade / Re: Transylvanian Chronicles OOC 1
« on: January 29, 2015, 09:40:12 pm »
Oh, this isn't Plot armor - I rolled for all of that.

Forge said he would keep himself out of the way of misguided attacks by standing several feet away from you guys. The shroud you created and summoned the tendrils from are several feet away from you guys (as Roland rushed forward after it was formed).

Heldric would have to move past the shroud (which would be blocking the entire alleyway) in order to see what was happening - so he moved past it, still staying several feet away from the fight, but close enough to intervene. You summoned tendrils from the shroud to attack Roland - and Heldric was directly between the two - how could Heldric know that the tendrils would come through the shroud? You could have summoned them from other places and he doesn't know your skill with Obtenebration.

He wanted to stay far enough away that wayward attacks (like sword blows or fists) wouldn't accidentally hit him, not far enough away to avoid sudden tendrils being summoned from out of nowhere, several feet away from the combatants and from behind him.

Kiril desperately resists the Dread Gaze, steeling his will and forcing himself to continue fighting.

He disreguards Roland's warning, and immediately uses some of his precious remaining blood to try and summon Dark Steel arms - only to fail miserably. He tries again, refusing to give up and expending even more of his blood, and now his success is overwhelming, seemingly as a counter to his previous failure. 6 Arms are created from the shroud he'd previously created, and all of them move directly towards Roland's back - only to become entangled in Heldric, who had been keeping himself hidden directly behind Roland! Heldric feels the rough tendrils crash right into his back, throwing him forward and alerting Roland as to both his presence and that of the silent tendrils. His Obfuscate is immediately broken (though his appearance remains the same), and any precise attack he would have wished to throw destroyed by the sudden blow.

Turning his gaze onto the Nosferatu, Roland does not recoil with horror - perhaps he does not see what Heldric is?

He does, however, immediately give a single, irresistible order - "Cainite, you will beat this fool into torpor"

Heldric tries to resist of course - trying to turn his eyes away from the nobleman, resisting his order - but he is sadly unable to override the man's Dominate. Heldric rushes forward towards Kiril, and drives his fist into the Lasombra's stomach.

It is to this scene that the others arrive. Roland turns his head at the appearance of Anton and Ennius and Lucien, rapidly noting that they too were all Cainites.

He goes back to Kiril, striking him once across the face damaging and breaking open the skin there.

He speaks in a low and rapid tone.

"I lied, Cainite. I am not the Prince's seneschal, oh no. I serve someone far greater than that fool. I serve a monster who scoff at the idea of destruction, I serve a monster whose presence makes the very earth shake with fear and whose voice commands kings. You will live to regret this."

Before Kiril's very eyes, the man vanishes.

The girl has been backed up quite nicely in the corner while this was happening, trying very, very hard not to die.

Heldric feels himself be released from the mesmer.

"Oh bother!" Steeple grumbles, "I guess it's to the castle then."

Steeple directs his herd in the direction of the castle, hoping to be the first to introduce himself to the prince.

"Do put on good airs everyone," Steeple says to his company, "We want to make a good first impression after all!"

As Steeple makes his way through the center market and towards the Castle hill, he comes across a lively, bustling tavern! He could go and spend some time in there, or continue moving forward if he'd like.

Hmm, true, vampires don't have a scent (other than what they've been in contact recently).

But if you weren't a vampire you could easily be tracked through the (completely empty and not-crowded part of the city) alleys.

He didn't get initiative, you got it, hence the shroud forming (and him rushing forward after it formed). His Dread Gaze interrupted your attempt to summon Arms of the Abyss - and while you could spend Willpower to resist the Presence, he started talking and I assumed you would listen to him. If you want to continue the fight, you can go right on ahead.

4088
Vampire The Masquerade / Re: Chapter 1: Dark Tides Rising

Kiril

Kiril envelops the man's head in a Shroud of Night, then uses Arms of the Abyss, bringing the dark steel tentacles out of the nightshroud's darkness to restrain the man, after which he plans to feed upon him.

The man immediately leaps forward upon Kiril summoning the Shroud - and he turns his gaze on the vampire. Kiril finds himself cowed (if ever so temporarily), as the nobleman takes on a terrifying and monstrous appearance before his eyes.

Even if Kiril should use willpower to protect his mind from the Dread Gaze, the man speaks before he can continue the fight - and he says things in a furious tone that Kiril would be very foolish to ignore indeed.

"Cainite! I am Roland, Child of Otto, Seneschal to Prince Vencel Rikard, I have claimed that slave and you have just attacked me in my Prince's domain. If you give her up now then I will disregard what has happened here. If you do not, then my wrath will seem trifling compared to what is to come."

Obviously somthing odd is going on with all of this mess, there is also one vampire missing from the group along with the girl. Heldric moves as quietly as possible past the others in an attempt to find the missing two. If the alley is too full he will try to circle around a different way of climb low walls to gain vantage.

Heldric judges that he is not a skilled enough climber and that it would be to slow to climb up the alley walls and move over the blocked alleyway - so he takes a different turn, listening to the conflict as he goes past. He hears a man speaking in a furious tone, and sees Kiril with the beautiful slave girl standing next to him.

Lucien and Anton

One of the guards catches the purse and looks inside after Lucien's statement. They seem to hesitate after Anton's threat - clearly scared but perhaps also unwilling to leave without the slave girl - so Sylvian tosses them one of his own coin purses.

"Begone now, fools!"

The added bribe and the threat proves enough and the five guards depart, going back to the square.

Ennius resumes moving forward.

Steeple

Moving about the central market, Steeple sees that everything has been closed down - as is customary, of course, most markets close at nightfall. The only thing open is the slave market, and the only nobleman left to go chase after the girl.

Of course, the city's castle is easily visible for the central market.

If Kiril knew he was a vampire, he wouldn't attack him because it wouldn't be polite.

But he's also hungry, and just participated in a chase scene, and most importantly, she's MINE.

He was going to offer to buy her! For a lot of money! (As explained by the large pouch of money he was holding).

I dunno, if you want to kill someone, certainly easier, especially since Kiril doesn't do massive damage with his sword

Don't forget that Kiril also has Potence three (dealing 3 automatic damage on every hit), he could one-shot an unarmed and unarmoured human with a lucky hit, or beat him unconscious in two or three. The tendrils are an unnecessary waste of blood when he's already low (and shouldn't be willing to kill the nobleman).

Nah, the game expects you to fight him (he's a dick), but it also expects you to at least give him the chance to introduce himself XD
