Edge & Power Notes
Evasion
The character has superior agility and grace when dodging attacks. He can use the Full Defense Action (Defend + Defend) without spending Surge Points during combat. +2 Defense (Dodge).
Exceptional Item (Breath of Hell Sword); Accuracy +0; Damage 5+L♠ (Sets Target Ablaze on Extra Success or Crit)
A sturdy longsword with a mini-flamethrower attached to the blade that jets fire through channels, wreathing it in flame. The mini-Flamethrower can also be used as normal, simply by pointing (or sweeping) the sword and hitting a button.
Flawless Masterwork [1 Surge | Free Action | 1 Work]
The Character ties a Surge Point up in the creation of a Masterwork (not having access to it until after his work is complete). Whatever the character has created is effectively the best work it could ever be – garnishing the best level of response and appreciation from those that see it, given the circumstances of its creation and presentation. In addition, whatever it is will be worth at least double its normal value; and if a weapon, both its Accuracy and Damage are increased by +1; other Flawless Masterworks may or may not grant a +2 Bonus to their use as determined by the GM.
Information Broker
The character has a source available to buy and sell information.
Quick Draw
The character can draw a weapon and have it ready for use as a Free Action rather than the normal Move Action.
Surprise Strike
The character knows how to take advantage of off-guard opponents. He does +5 damage on a successful Close Quarter attack against a Flat Footed opponent. He may use Surprise Strike only once per target each round.
Rapid Strike
The character is lightning quick in close quarter combat. He can use back-to-back Attack Actions (Attack + Attack) when making Close Quarter attacks, without spending Surge Points during combat.
Salty Dog
The character is an old hand when it comes to ships and space travel, able to manually crew any sized ship all by himself, should the need ever arise.
Spacecraft, Freighter
The character owns a space freighter. A Freighter Spacecraft bought with this Edge can always be repaired or replaced if damaged, lost, stolen, or destroyed during the course of the game (though it can take a few months in some cases).
Spacer
The character is accustomed to space travel and suffers no Situational Modifiers for actions in Zero-G.
Underworld Ties
The character has contacts and limited influence in a major syndicate or other illegal organization.
Ship Edges_
Armed
The ship comes with a standard self-defense weapon package that includes: 20mmL police ship guns; Air-to-Air Missile (6) or Mini Missiles (6); and Chaff Defense (6).
Cargo Jettison
The ship can jettison or separate from its Cargo at the push of a button if necessary. For Freighters, this simply means dropping one or more of its trailing cargo containers; while for other ships, it usually involves controlled explosive decompression of the cargo area itself, to suck everything out into space. Depending where cargo is jettisoned, it may or may not be recoverable later, and could also pose an Obstacle Hazard to other ships.
Docking Clamps
The ship is equipped with docking clamps that allow it to lock onto another ship for ship-to-ship interaction through a retractable self-sealing airlock. Typically, it is used in conjunction with other docking clamp-equipped ships, but can also be used alone (and often is by Pirates) simply by clamping to the hull, extending the self-sealing airlock, and welding a hole through the other guy’s ship.
Locking onto an unwilling ship (unless Disabled) requires a successful MTN 10 Ramming attack that causes damage as normal. Once a ship is clamped on, there is no shaking it until the clamps are released. This can be accomplished by physically gaining access to the controls, hacking them through the Net with a Universal R/C Link, or attacking the clamps directly as the Pirates are trying to weld through the hull.
Fly-by-Wire
Instead of a ship’s computer, the ship is controlled by superior mechanical engineering. This means the ship can’t be hacked or remote controlled.
Obstacle Avoidance Computer
The Obstacle Avoidance Computer is an advanced kind of autopilot, smart enough to spot incoming collision threats and alter the ship’s course to avoid them. Typically, it is used to get ships safely through hazardous space, such as the asteroid rings around Jupiter and Saturn. By itself, the Obstacle Avoidance Computer is capable of making Pilot 11 rolls to avoid such hazards, including up to two Dodge Actions per round against incoming missiles and Ramming attempts by other ships. If used in conjunction with the pilot’s own rolls, the Obstacle Avoidance Computer grants a +2 Bonus to all rolls used to avoid obstacles, missiles, and other collisions.
Flaws
Chain Smoker
The character has to have his cigarettes and everyone knows it, cause he’s never seen without one hanging from his lip. He must make a Willpower Save to resist any offers of a smoke; something an enemy might take advantage of. If denied smokes for more than an hour, the character suffers a –1 penalty to all die rolls until he gets some.
Distinctive Features
Something about the character’s physical appearance stands out, making him easily identifiable (whether extensive tattoos, a disfigurement, unique mode of dress, etc). Opponents get a +4 on Perception (Spot) rolls, when used to spot the character among a crowd or recognize him in disguise.
Impaired Vision
The character is blind in one eye, has no depth perception, is myopic, or suffers a lazy eye. -2 Ranged Skill and -3 Perception (Spot) rolls (already included).
