Power and Edge Notes
Edges_
Mobility: The character is skilled at dodging past opponents and can move through an opponent’s space when taking Move Actions.

Amazing Feats_
Assassin’s Misdirecting Attack: [1 Surge| Add | Instant]
Using Assassin’s Misdirecting Attack, an unseen (or otherwise hidden) attacker can make a Ranged Attack on a target and not only retain his cover, but make the target think that the attack came from another angle (even 180 degrees off). Even those around the target will fall for the misdirection, though NPCs with Luck Points are allowed to burn 1 to realize that the attack direction is not what it seems.

Clever Misdirect: [1 Surge | 1 Action | Instant]
Using Clever Misdirect, one can automatically pickpocket someone (without a roll) so smoothly that the person and even onlookers have zero chance to notice anything amiss, until a full ten minutes after the fact. In addition, one can even take something right out of another’s hands in full view – and the person will be convinced that they accidently dropped it. In such a case however, the user will need to make Face (Bluff) rolls as normal to keep the target from thinking that they didn’t subsequently pick the item up and are now hiding it from them.

Flawless Disguise Technique: [1 Surge | Full Round | 1 Scene]
By spending a Surge Point and attuning to the persona they wish to imitate, the users of Flawless Disguise Technique can perfectly mimic the appearance and mannerisms of anyone they have had the chance to study for a few minutes beforehand. Those interacting with the user will not be able to tell the difference from sight and casual conversation alone – though an observer may start to become suspicious when deeper interface is required or some knowledge the actual persona would know is proven to be lacking. It also doesn’t help if the user and original persona are suddenly seen together at the same time or are known to be in two places at once.

Heroic Surge: The character can explode with a burst of adrenalin, allowing him to spend as many of his Surge Points per round as he likes, without the usual one per round restriction.

Spirit Arrows: [1 Surge| 1 Action | 1 Scene]
By attuning one’s spirit to their bow, one can conjure arrows of pure spirit with each draw of the string. Each Spirit Arrow is imbued with Spirit Cutting and does +5 Damage against Undead, Spirits, Demons, and Oni – but acts otherwise like a normal arrow.

Elemental Barb: [1 Surge| Add | Instant]
Spend a Surge Point as desired to infuse an arrow, bolt, or spear with elemental energy for one of the following effects:
  • Fire: Triple X-Damage & set target Ablaze
  • Water: Double All Damage to Vitality Points against Soft Targets (animals and personnel), but 1/2 Damage to Wound Points (a Crit on the Attack roll KO’s the target)
  • Air: +8 Accuracy & Crit on 10 or better
  • Earth: AP Attack & Double X-Damage on 10 or better
.
Rain of Shooting Stars: [1 Surge| Add | Instant]
By attuning one’s spirit to their Ranged attack, they can cause any projectile to shatter mid-flight into a thousand sparkling shards of spirit energy – saturating an area 30 ft in diameter. The attack is rolled as normal to get the Damage (and scatter on a miss) but is only avoidable when the opponent Crits on a Defense roll or uses Uncanny Dodge or Uncanny Parry. The projectile is destroyed by the use of this Feat. Undead, Spirits, Demons, and Oni take Double All Damage from this attack.

Lock Defeating Touch: [1 Surge | 1 Action | Instant]
Using Lock Defeating Touch, one can simply burn a surge point while touching a lock and it will pop right open all by itself.

Masterful Trap-Works: The Masterful Trap-Works Feat allows one to reduce the time it takes to set up a trap by half and to automatically succeed (without a roll) when constructing it, as long as the trap in question has no MTN to build. For more complex traps, a roll is still needed, but any associated MTNs are reduced by 5 – and the builder will not fall into his own trap should the roll turn out badly.

Most Unfortunate Accident: [1 Surge | Add | 1 Device]
Spend a Surge Point when Rigging a Device to Fail – to effectively Crit (without the need to actually roll) and making the failure of the device impossible to distinguish from anything but an accident. When Forensic Analysis Approach is used to investigate a ‘Most Unfortunate Accident’, it allows for an Evaluate (Sense Motive) roll to be made to suspect foul play.

---

Tsunami Wave: Creates an 8 ft high, 12 ft wide, wave of saltwater that slams into everything in a 50 ft Line – doing 5S + X-Roll Damage to all within and automatically knocking anything, without the Untippable AF, Back (5ft times X-Roll) & Prone in the process. Furthermore, the Tsunami Wave acts as an Engine of Destruction, doing Triple X-Roll Damage to all nonliving objects, including Golems and Animated Objects.

Fill the Sails: [1 Surge | Instant | 1 Scene]
This Amazing Feat allows one to triple the ship’s normal speed or to sail it at normal speed against the prevailing winds.

Feather Fall: As long as both fans are out at the time, the character can use them to gently spiral down to the ground from any height and suffer no harm.

Background

Lee Tae-Hyun grew up in Busan Korea. Son of a fisherman and seamstress, you could say he was rather poor. He learned from a young age that if he needs, he must get. And he became proficient in, getting. He is a small man now even into his late 30's (39), some mistake him for a teen or younger man. This actually worked to his advantage, it gave him a certain charm, and his size made it easy to move in and out of the shadows without being noticed.

He became obsessed with trapping, and even constructed a device to help his father catch fish. He simply labeled it "Fish trap". In fact this fine underwater cage could efficiently catch lobster, crab, fish, turtles, and many other manners of land and sea creatures. After his father passed he devoted his life to perfecting the perfect trap, getting in and out of places even keys to all the right doors couldn't open, Ranged combat with his Brother's bow "Silver Tear" (a great bow), and of course, huge piles of gold.

he has out lived, outsmarted, and out shot, his family and most of those he was formerly in business with. Hearing about the many hidden riches of Nippon from the fish merchants, and fisherman who he still kept in close company, he has decided to leave Korea and travel across the sea to the mighty and fabled isles to turn a profit and see if he can't learn a thing or two in the process.

He is no stranger to the war between China and Nippon. And he himself garners some resentment towards the Chinese himself. The Chinese raided his Village and took all the women who had skills, his mother being one of them. Of course he has received a few letters over the last 15 years but they have grown less frequent, and in the last 2 years have stopped entirely. he holds no doubt that she is dead, either from old age or killed for not being able to meet the standards of the shops she was forced to labor in (sewing, and repairing garments for the noble and military.)

He doesn't know what Nippon holds in store, as well, most tales he has heard have been nothing more than myths from old sailors...

Other Notes
The year is 594 and the current ruler of the Three Kingdoms of Korea is King Yeongyang of Goguryeo.

As far as Lee Tae-Hyun knows, the current ruler of Nippon is Empress Suiko – the first female ruler of Nippon since the legendary matriarchal times. Empress Suiko had come to the throne as the niece of the previous Emperor, Sujun, who had been assassinated last year. Empress Suiko had also been married to a prior Emperor, Bidatsu (some eight years ago).

Right now, the three kingdoms of Korea are hostile to China but friendly to Nippon – though they frequently alternate between cooperation and conflict among themselves.

As such, the land of Nippon currently holds great promise to Lee Tae-Hyun, which is why he came across the sea – arriving on Nippon’s western shore about two weeks ago.

Unfortunately, in crossing the mountains to get to the more densely populated eastern side of Honshu, Lee Tae-Hyun got lost and has been wandering the upper peaks for three days now – searching for the way out.

Food has become scare and his mount is on its last legs. If he doesn’t find a way back down from these endless mountains soon – he likely never will…
