Udo and Roka make the prerequisite Samurai Stare… and then burst into action – Udo actually reacting a split second before Roka!

Roka burns a Surge Point to Interrupt Udo, but Udo Burns one to Counter. Unfortunately, Roka isn’t limited to burning just one per round and pours on another Surge – getting the first action!

“Ha! You really need to learn how to move faster!” Roka taunts – and inadvertently gives Udo a Born Leader Surge Point! Udo again Counters the Interrupt – forcing Roka to Spend a third to retain the upper hand!

Roka then makes a focused attack, spending a Luck Point to Crit Udo with a solid blow to the chin for 11 Damage and a KO!

Udo spends two Luck Points to Counter the Crit and halves the Damage. He also Saves against the Stun!

Seeing Udo still standing after such a blow, Roka Surges again and tries to finish it!

He clips Udo in the side of the head as Udo is still swinging his massively slow tetsubo. As Udo is out of Luck Points, he can’t Crit the Dodge and takes 10 more Points of Damage – nor can he halve it either!

Udo goes down under the blow!

...Then Udo’s tetsuba drops squarely on Roka’s big toe and breaks it…  ^v^

Roka WINS GRAND CHAMPION!!! *limp limp limp…

After Roka wins the final match – and the adulation of the crowd finally dies down – Chief Magistrate Noburu Saito steps forward to present Roka with the Official Title of ‘Grand Champion’ and a pair of Masterwork Swords – his trophy for winning the event. He then motions for the rest of the top competitors to receive their prizes.

"You have all done well and honored the martial traditions of our forefathers by your attendance and efforts in this Tournament” Chief Magistrate Saito says, addressing the assembled crowd, “Win or lose, you have all represented the spirit and glory of the Mutsu Province and have brought your Daimyo great honor!”

The crowd cheers and the Chief Magistrate withdraws. General Meji then addresses everyone.

“Thank you all for your competitive spirit and glorious matches! The level of skill shown over these two days was marvelous!”

“And our thanks to Master Overseer Nakamura and his honorable student Keitaro Hokusai for their contributions for making this event a success…”

At length, all the Nobles have all made their speeches and everyone is dismissed – with thoughts of the upcoming Daimyo’s Patriot’s Day Tournament occupying many a mind.

As the Company of Sendai’s Yoriki are heading out, Juro Saito rushes over – “Oh there you all are! Goodness, I’m glad that I caught you! The Chief Magistrate must see you all immediately!”
