Merits and Flaws

Merit:Acute Sense of Taste: (1 pt) (VPG)
You have an exceptionally keen sense of taste. To spot the taint of poison in blood or another substance are You are able to make precise distinctions in taste. Combined with Heightened Senses (Level One Auspex), this Merit can provide superhuman taste acuity.

Ambidextrous: (1 pt) (VPG)
You have a high degree of off-hand dexterity and can perform tasks with the 'wrong' hand. Can use both hands at the same time.

Calm Heart: (3pt) (VPG)
You are naturally calm and well-composed, and do not easily fly off the handle

Eye for Beauty (1-pt. Merit)

The Kindred is a natural critic. Reduce difficulties for Art Appreciation by four

Touched by God (3-pt. merit)

Your art is considered truly inspired and inspiring. There is an essence of life and beauty about your work that moves others. Perhaps you were always gifted, or the Embrace might have opened you to the Almighty in ways you hadn't expected. Your singing voice causes stones to melt, your paintings look as if their subjects might step off the canvas at any moment, or your storytelling holds people utterly spellbound. The difficulty on all Expression rolls is reduced by two. If the art being produced relates to God, the Church or similar high ideals, the difficulty is reduced by three instead. Such perfection, however, can engender jealousy in mortal or Cainite rivals. Some suspicious clergy may believe that you sold your soul to achieve your talent, or that you are guilty of hubris by reaching too high within your endeavors

Sweet Blood (1pt. Merit)
Your vitae tastes like the finest wine, sweet and heady without the slightest trace of salt or metallic tang. As such, you may hide your blood in a chalice or feed ghouls without betraying the true nature of their draught.

Flaw:
Eerie Presence (2pt. Flaw)
Mortals have an unconscious awareness of your undead nature, which makes them anxious and ill at east in your presence. Because of this, difficulties of all die rolls relating to social interaction with mortals are increased by two.

Fierce Bigot (2pt. Flaw): The uncultured
You hold particular hatred or disdain for a specific class or community of mortals, most likely the common rabble of serfs and servants. You make all frenzy checks at +2 difficulty around such individuals and always attack them first if you do succumb to frenzy.

Cast No Reflection (1pt. Flaw)
You actually cast no reflection. This can have a very detrimental effect trying to pass as a human. Vampires of Clan Lasombra automatically have this Flaw at no point benefit (and you may be mistaken for one of them if you possess it).

Repulsed by Garlic (1pt. Flaw)
You cannot abide garlic, and the smallest whiff of its scent drives you from a room unless you make a successful Willpower roll (difficulty based on the strength of the odor).

Various empty easels, a wide amount of brushes, SHITLOADS of paint, and blank paper to coat the floor of the loft. For paint, totally to catch the red paint <-<

A loooooooooooooooot of paintings to keep in the art gallery room.

Besides the saber he uses for combat, he will also have a couple daggers, one of which he'll hide in a boot while travelling. Let's include a fancy fencing saber as well - for duels and slaying his enemies and whatnot

Of course lavish furnishings for the estate. Toreador and whatnot.

I'm also going to include a wine cellar and several older vintages so he can sneak vitae to anyone at a viewing.

History

His story till now: Sylvian Beaulieu was born to a French family that possessed very little wealth and even less prestige. However, you would never know that based on how he currently lives his life. After discovering a remarkable talent for painting and a sizeable market for his art he quickly found his way to moderate success, leaps and bounds ahead of what he used to live in. This is also what attracted his sire - Arianne - to him as one of her many lovers. Now Sylvian lives a very comfortable life as an immortal artist, spending his eternity expanding his mind as well as his art collection. After moving to Transylvia to capture the otherworldy landscape that felt could only be found in that region, he acquired a ghoul named Aldric, a raving fan of his art who happened to recognize him on the street despite his use of surnames (ironically based on an ego-fueled self portrait) and kept harrassing the artist until Sylvian eventually enslaved the young man just to make him shut up (or so he claims). Now Aldric handles Sylvian's day to day affairs - literally - while he sleeps and serves to protect his dwelling in Transylvania and to keep any troublemakers off of the premisis while his other ghoul - Odi - is busy fetching the master's dinner.

Goals/Destiny: To one day capture Transylvania's landscape in the perfect painting

Why he is willing to join the cotterie (besides sire's request): To travel the countryside in search of inspiration

Oh, Bo, one thing: I see that you're looking at the attributes page for Mage, but it's worth noting that vampires can, unlike mages, soak Lethal damage.

Also, vampires, unlike mages, have their disciplines powered by their attributes and abilities (instead of Arete, you roll a combination like you would for a normal action). So you might want to coordinate your attributes with your Disciplines - Perception/Empathy for Auspex, Charisma/Appearance/Manipulation for Presence, etc.

Also, you might want to take a look at the Vampire Blood pool uses - Blood is very useful.

Celerity doesn't rely on anything, it just gives you more actions (you get as many actions as your celerity rating after spending a blood point at the beginning of the round). Yes, in case you're wondering, that's what the elder Assamite is currently using to Fark you, Nazario and Damus all simultaneously.

So what you're saying is I just need to wait for an elder vampire to run out of blood? How can that go wrong?

And by that you mean an art-loving Toreador? it should work out pretty well, I'm gonna have him be a semi-famous artist, that's how he makes his money. After his centuries of being immortal he'll just use psuedonyms XD

Sweet, will probably invest in that instead then. And Horde? How does that work? Just followers or all ghouls (cuz I could use a ghoul army)

They are completely useless other than for blood. Think of cult members in mage - they provide you with a service (the cult gives you automatic successes on magic rolls, the herd gives you blood) and they pretty much suck at everything else. look at Berka's thread for examples.

Retainers are ghouls, but troubled ones. They are bound to you but they are not perfect. If you spend ally points to make retainer/ally ghouls, then they increase in usefulness. If it gets strong enough, you can even have another vampire bound to you.

All right, I spent a point in Ally and Retainer for a useful-ish ghoul. I think the ghoul is going to be Transylvanian (Sylvian is French but knows a shitload of languages) and named Neculai Unger. A raving fan of Sylvian's art who was ghoulified to do his day-to-day work. Pretty much just treated like the pleb he is shit

Hmm, okay, in that case he won't be a combat God or anything, but he'll possess other useful disciplines. Stuff like Presence, Auspex and Obfuscate.

Also a waste, yes.

Hahahahahahahahaha

No, definitely not the same XD

You can check in the explanatory links section or ask Aman for good merits/flaws.

All right, now how do the points in paths and willpower work? Do I strictly have to do that based on freebies or is it done a different way?

Listed in the char creation guide - they're both based off of virtues. Your will power is your Courage before spending freebie points (bumping courage later with freebie points does not raise your willpower), your path is based on your other two virtues added up before spending freebie points.

All right, three herdsmembers (all transylvanian and live in the mansion, he can have one with five resources?):
Antonese Nicolescu: Butler
Valerian Costin: Driver
Alina Balan: Cook (Ironic I know).

What generation does that put Sylvian at?

A 5 in generation puts you at 7th generation - this means you can raise your abilities, attributes and disciplines up to the 6th level.

Yes, you can have a fancy house in a big city - Arianne is in Radu's city of Bistritz so I assume you come from there.

Not retainers, herd members.

Kinda want the Acute taste perk just to go along with the artistic snob routine.
You have an exceptionally keen sense of taste. To spot the taint of poison in blood or another substance are You are able to make precise distinctions in taste. Combined with Heightened Senses (Level One Auspex), this Merit can provide superhuman taste acuity

So -1=6

Ambidextrous: (1 pt) (VPG)
You have a high degree of off-hand dexterity and can perform tasks with the 'wrong' hand. Can use both hands at the same time.

Calm Heart: (3pt) (VPG)
You are naturally calm and well-composed, and do not easily fly off the handle

Thought it would go well with his regal demeaner if story events didn't freak him out

Eye for Beauty (1-pt. Merit)

The Kindred is a natural critic. Reduce difficulties for Art Appreciation by four

I mean, duh.

You may want to have taken
http://reference.l2fury.com/index.php/Touched_by_God

veeeeeery nice. So how about

Eerie Presence (2pt. Flaw)
Mortals have an unconscious awareness of your undead nature, which makes them anxious and ill at east in your presence. Because of this, difficulties of all die rolls relating to social interaction with mortals are increased by two.
+2=3

then

Some suspicious clergy may believe that you sold your soul to achieve your talent, or that you are guilty of hubris by reaching too high within your endeavors

alright, random questions for your approval before I log off for the night:
1.) Is it ok if my guy was sired in 1150? I mean it says we start the game in the twelfth century, and my vampire is supposed to be fairly older (so he could acquire multiple languages and resources and whatnot) but his sire was only turned in 1120. Unless we could have him be the first of many to be sired? I would be cool with that.
2.) So he should have four languages learned thanks to his three in linguistic (Idk why the third level grants an extra level but there it is) I'm thinking French for his native land, Hungarian because that's where they are (unless Transylvanians speak a different language?) English because it was close to France and interacts with it pretty often, and Italian because they controlled trade in the Mediteranean where he spent the majority of his life (or unlife? Idk when I have him moving to Transylvania). Any other language you think I could use due to upcoming plots or regions in the game? Hopefully Sylvian will be a translator of sorts.
3.) I noticed in the setting (well, the setting you said was important. I'll probably read it all.... one day) that Nobles are starting to create new settings and trade routes in Transylvania. I was wondering if that could be the reason why he came. While he's a "noble" he does have a few levels of finance and being a lover of the arts he might have come to the "fronteir" to get more inspiration. Is this cool with you since his Sire dissapeared from his life?
4.) Can Vampires have sex? Will you teach me the Bats and the Bees?

1). No. You're all Neonates. Anyone who wants to start older than 20 years as a vampire will earn my almost immediate ire and annoyance.

2). Get Latin.

3). Sire hasn't disappeared. He knows exactly where his sire his. She just doesn't care about him anymore - or at least, she gives that impression. He's even starting in the same city as her.

The chronicle takes place here for the next 8 centuries. You need a better reason than that, unless you decide to say that you're so enamoured with the land that you decide to abandon everything else to stay here.

1.) Cool with me, I'll just say he's rediculously smart. Get on my level, plebs <-<
3.)That's really cool, do they have a link with one another? I'm not entirely sure what stories I've heard from The Masquerade and what I've heard from other lores
4.) I was actually being half serious on that one. Was curious how exactly his sire tricked him into a turning as I remember that in the video game you were turned during sex but they also hint that vampires may not be able to have it.

Toreadors have random flights of fancy, right? So he could easily just be obsessed with a certain inspiration he found in Hungary?

Who said he was willing? All it said was that she turned him.

Vampires are made by draining all of the blood from one's body and then giving them a trickle of your own vitae. That creates a childer.

Yes, they can have sex. They just don't receive any pleasure from it. Sometimes. Check out Bulscu, that guy's into some nasty shit.
You have to spend a number of blood points before you can use those functions though. I think it's something like 8 - your path rating.

Random flights of fancy do not last 800 years.

The setting clearly indicates that the demon and its black heart has affected the landscape and all who dwell within it for any length of time giving it an otherworldly feel and look. Even though it started as a flight of fancy, he could become obsessed with emanating that in his art, achieving the high level attribute available to certain Elders of capturing feeling and emotion into the work, and he wants to capture the feeling of this strange twisted place.

That I would accept, but I need to know if Bo is willing to go with that.
