“Right, then,” Jor Thok replies (Born Leader) – “You can do it! Go get that Guardian! You’re a beast! Tear it to pieces! YEAH!!! YEAH!!! RARRGH!!!”
‘He’s not very good at this’ Roka can’t help but think to himself, as he buffs up for whatever lay behind the fall.
Li Li meanwhile, is very impressed with the display and cheers both men on.
With no ledge or lead-up to the rock face behind the falls, Roka is forced to jump into the lake itself and swim – diving under the pounding deluge – to access the wide hollow behind the curtain of magical water.
Once on the other side, he pulls himself up into the mouth of a strange crystalline chamber.
The area is about forty feet wide, thirty feet high, and goes back about sixty feet. The walls prickle with huge iridescent crystals of some kind – the points of which seep floating beads of mercurial silver into the air that snake their way through the cave in tenuous rivulets; and down into a massive eighty thousand pound boulder-sized diamond hovering in the center.
The diamond glows with tremendous magical energy and Roka can see reflections of All Creation in the mirrored surfaces of the mercury trails, as they flow into the multi-facets of the gargantuan gem. It is way too much for his finite human mind to contain – and it abruptly threatens to shut down!
Burning a Surge Point, Roka manages to hold onto his sanity, long enough to notice movement from under the floating diamond.
For beneath it, lay a vast pool of slick and cloying blood (the width of the entire chamber) – a viscous crimson abomination the consistency of pudding – but thrashing out with a horrifying array of stringy clotted strands! Surging up like a wave, it threatens to engulf Roka like a ship in the Maelstrom!
