"Bring it on" Derek mumbles as he makes another called headshot to the most immediate threat. He then shoots continues as he has before, picking out what he perceives as the most threathening foe. He also spends Draks 2 surges for 2 more shots. He will spend luck to make sure every shot counts.

Seeing the charging aliens seems to galvanize the team into action.

Rouge acts first, popping up to fire a burst at the lead grunt before ducking back down behind cover, with a beautiful shot a small shower of blood goes up from the grunts chest and it staggers back, clearly wounded.

Jackson then Sprints out from behind Miks stunned warthog and with a good sprint makes it behind Routes cover easily without having to surge, he also still has medikit in hand so gets to work immediately.

The Marine on the turret then opens fire only to have a casing jam and set off the next round prematurely, he isn't injured but it will take time to fix the turret.

The Elite then Makes his move, raising his gun high in the air only to notice Nina, who before now was reacting slowly, suddenly interrupt his movement by releasing a rocket at the front row of enemies. Her shot flies straight but just as with Rouge's grenades, it goes around 7-8 feet too far, this also means it impacts right in front of the second row of enemies. She watches an elite, a Jackal and two grunts madly dive for cover. None of them react in time however and they are all caught in the blast to some extent. A grunt is nearest the blast centre and is literally blown to pieces while the second grunt and Jackal are thrown into the air, landing in bloody heaps a few metres away. The Elite however is only knocked back a few feet, it's shield is gone and there are scotch marks on its armour but it is still very much alive It stands up and roars loudly before charging at the garage, covering most of the distance to the defenders, it is inside and only a couple of feet from Rouge and Derek's crate.

The wounded grunt stumbles back for cover while Steve unloads fire on both elites, starting with the close one.
It can't Dodge anymore and takes the needles to the chest, Steve doesn't really know how the weapon works but half a clip is good right? Half the clip goes in and the elite, who wasn't that wounded, disappears in a cloud of pink pieces streaked through with purple blood. Steve pauses for a second and looks at the needler "This weapon is totally Op" he says before sending the second half of the clip at the other elite, the needles are all on target but the elite gains some luck and dodges behind cover, narrowly avoiding a pink death. (ooc: Drak got good rolls and didn't use luck but the elite used luck to successfully Dodge the attack).

Derek then feels a sudden strong surge and fires twice, reloads and fires once more (ooc: 4 bullet clip, two used already) he targets the remaining elite, then the Jackal at the back, then a Jackal in the front row. The Elite has dodged behind cover making the shot harder however a little luck aids in the shot and once more a sniper round ends an elites life instantly. The Jackal at the rear however dodges perfectly while the one at the front dips it's shield for a moment too long as the shot finds its mark, killing it outright.

Three grunts and two shield Jackals gain the inside of the garage but don't manage to hit anything while a marine fires at them, also failing to score any hits.

Mik finds the hog roaring into life just as another charge shot from a grunt hits it again, once more stunning the vehicle. He ducks as the next grunt targets him directly but he is a sitting duck and takes a hit from the plasma bolt once more. He abandons the driver seat to try and hide behind the hog, hoping the cover will save him.

The final marine to moves takes a targeted shot and drops the grunt which shot Mik with a headshots.

Another grunt charges into the area and the defenders see both of its hands light up with plasma grenades, it is only a few feet away...

The Jackal at the back is confirmed to be the sniper as it targets the obvious high value target, the woman with the rocket Launcher standing on the gunner platform of a warthog, it fires... Nina knows she cannot Dodge but as the beam flies towards her head Rouge shouts "Dodge!" and she leaps away just in time for the beam to miss her head, and hit her torso instead. She falls from the hog still clutching the rocket launcher with 1 in the tube as she hits the ground lightly wounded.

That leaves 5 grunts and one shield Jackal to go... Three of the grunts first charge close and throw grenades. One lands near a marine, one hits Derek's crate and bounces off luckily into a harmless spot and one... Trips.. Dropping his grenade at his own feet and near another grunt. It dives clear while the Jackal following also dives clear before firing at Jackson, clipping the crate near him. The Marine goes up in an explosion as does the grunt who dropped the plasma.

It is then that they hear a strange humming noise and see the strange aircraft swooping outside. The turret near the entrance disappears in a giant green explosion along with the Marine manning it, the aircraft then seems to dance in the air before disappearing again.

Nina fires another Rocket at the next clump of foes, getting up, and screaming angrily.

"NINA ROCKET!" She shouts, excitedly. She also moves to cover.

Drakalicious, having basically burnt himself out by using all of his grenades, surge, born leader surge and best weapons to slaughter an inordinately large number of foes, whips out the DMR, takes a pot-shot at the sniper and then dives for cover behind the warthog.

The group has seen the Elites go down and feels like they have almost won as a result, however there are still a lot of enemies closing in on them very quickly that they need to deal with.

Rouge lets Jackson finish his first aid then pops up and fires a quick burst at a lead grunt. He fires well however the grunt seems to anticipate the shot and dives clear, getting away un-injured. Jackson then Quickly assesses the situation. There are 4 badly injured people at the moment, Mik, who is slap band in the middle of the enemy leaning against the hog still near the doors, the unconscious marine near the inside door who may or may not have died in the meantime, The defending marine who is shooting from behind a crate near the North of the room and Nina who is not AS badly wounded and is behind the warthog near the very rear of the room (East wall) Rouge is in good shape and Derek is only lightly injured behind the crate where Jackson is also now ducking which is near the South wall. the enemies are closing fast and most are less then 1 movement from the crates meaning that in one run they could be past the defender's cover. he sees and hears no sign of the weird alien light aircraft from before and notes that several enemies are quite manic, probably due to loosing their commanders so quickly, they might snap one way or another very soon.

Nina then gets to her feet, she can feel the injury slowing her but she fires anyway, risking the lives of all the defenders in her gamble... which pays off. the rocket flies beautifully, impacting at the feet of a grunt with two other grunts and a jackal also in range. The one at the epicenter simply flails it's arms in the air and screams while the rest try and dive out of the danger zone. The jackal and one grunt make it clear while the last grunt dives heroically but does not get quite far enough, it is thrown back by the blast, injured but alive while the one with the flailing arms takes the full brunt and what little remains of it simply makes and interesting colorful texture on the high ceiling. She then jumps behind the warthog for cover.

A grunt moves next, targeting the sniper who killed their leaders and fires a shot from it's plasma pistol. Derek sees it coming and knows instantly that he has reacted too slowly to dodge properly and that the shot is aimed perfectly, it will catch him in the face, entirely unprotected by his armor. He knows that the result will be very bad and attempts to draw strength one last time from his lucky rainbow colored sock as he closes his eyes and waits for the impact. and he feels it in his chest, he isn't sure how the shot not only changed course from his un-protected face, or how that allowed it to curve past the crate and hit his chest... but then he feels the elastic on his sock finally snap and knows it gave him the luck he needed this final time, his armor now able to absorb much of the damage.

Steve then spins up and fires a pot-shot at the sniper before diving behind the warthog and is almost surprised when the round takes the alien clean in what he assumes would be it's chest. It staggers back injured but still alive. Steve then lands in cover right on top of a dead marine who's corpse provides a nice cushioned landing.

Derek doesn't want to be out-done by Steve of all people and gets to his feet quickly firing a shot at the grunt who had injured him, followed by an adrenaline surge from his injury allowing one more snapshot against the grunt holding two grenades already activated and only 10 feet away from him. The first shot goes beautifully and hits the grunt in the chest and as always passing right through without pause but the second grunt, the one with the grenades dodges, leaping clear just in time. It dodges the shot but lands badly and is sprawled out on the floor.

Three grunts and two Jackals go next, surging forwards to get round the cover the defenders are currently using. the jackals run left (South) and get round the side of the crates negating the cover for Jackson, Rouge and Derek while the grunts continue their seemingly unco-ordinated charge forwards and get past the crate to the right meaning they are right in the middle of the room, right in front of the hog and between the defenders on the North and South crates. Two have exhausted themselves dodging and running already so only three fire and by some strange luck only 1 shot flies true, aimed not at the three hunkered down behind the crate but back at the badly injured Mik who is now behind the enemy lines, who, injured as he is fails his dodge roll and takes yet another plasma hit to the chest, his armour cracking under the strain (After 3 hits I start rolling for armour damage now). Mik spends a luck to not die here but falls unconscious to the floor, barely stabilized)

The Last marine defender then decides it is do or die time and tosses his grenade at the three grunts  that circled the cover before spinning and taking a shot at the grunt with two grenades, surging for the extra action, knowing that if he doesn't that it is very possible for three cadets to die... His throw, is going to go long he realizes as he is doing it, right towards the cadets he was trying to save, then his foot slips just enough to throw his angle off and the grenades goes true (OOC: used a luck to save your asses here. honestly without this marines turn I think there would be three deaths...) the frag grenade lands and bounces just short of the grunts meaning it will go off nicely right in the center of them in a couple of seconds. His shot then causes the grunt to dive backwards once more taking it a couple more feet from the defenders.

The sniper then makes his move against the defenders once more, hurting from the wound in it's chest it lines up a shot against the marine and lands a clean hit on the already wounded defender who falls, not quite dead but bleeding out behind his crate.

This is quickly followed by the last three grunts and final jackal moving forward. The Jackal leaps up onto the crate in front of the dying marine but missed its snap shot at him, it is close now though and looks hungry. the grunts charge forwards but seeing the grenade, they do not run past the cover and one takes a shot at Steve, who despite good cover takes the hit on his leg thanks to a very good/lucky shot from the grunt. The other two think better of it and head back for the door.

Then the grenades go off, the grunt carrying two of them seems more scared then is possible for humans to feel as it explodes in twin plumes of pink mist, leaving nothing even recognizable as remains. the humans frag grenade goes off right after, all three grunts too stunned to dodge get wiped out, one corpse landing on Derek. Well half the corpse, the other half lands a few feet away.

Jackson heads to try and help the guy who just valiantly sacrificed himself to save them.  After that, Mik is his next target (he's the guy who can fix stuff, right?) then maybe Nina.  She seems like an okay Russian person.

Drakalicious looks for cover farther away from the death fighting, then goes there - the grunts would overtake this position soon, and he was all out of tricks.

Failing to find anything, he shrugs, whips out the DMR and cries out - "KNEEL BEFORE THE GOD OF WAR!" as he looses fire on the grunts nearest to him.

Right before hiding right back behind that glorious cover of his.

"Im the best got damn sniper around." Derek mumbles as he goes for the sniper this this, and if his shot is true he'll be targeting any enemy next.

If his shot is not a instakill or direct hit he'll shot the sniper again.

With most of the enemies dead now the team pushes for victory as Jackson tries to save everyone he can. It also feels like an unseen being above them is smiling about how many less dice rolls there are...

Rouge does not like being flanked, being flanked by two shield jackals is actually pretty bad, especially as they are only standing a few feet away armed with plasma pistols. They fires a burst from his BR at the first one but watches the shots harmlessly glint off it's shield without ever endangering it. Rouge surges again, imagining their ancestors as they charged in the vanguard of past battles, dying gloriously and puts a burst of fire at the second jackal, it lifts it's shield to block the shots however not fast enough as the burst of bullets slips through and cleanly hits the jackal and it stumbles back badly wounded.

Jackson then sprints right through the middle of the garage, straight through the remains of the grunts killed by the frag grenade and slides into position beside the dying marine. He sees that the man will die soon but applies emergency first aid and finds that the marine stabilizes for now, he wont die now but obviously is still grievously wounded. Jackson then looks up at the Jackal which was intending to feast upon the dying marine, it is on the crate right above him and he gets a nice view of its open jaws and plasma pistol pointing at him.

Nina then climbs back onto the turret and fires a full auto blast at the grunts milling about in the center of the garage, a few feet from where Jackson just ran. Just as she roars her challenge and begin firing the grunts start running. The entire group of remaining grunts sprint for the door as Nina's bullets spray the area they were standing only moments before.

Steve's targets have fled so he shoots at the easiest target available, the jackal above Jackson. It shows once more just how nimble they are by leaping back 10 feet, landing easily... then runs for the door too. Leaving only the sniper and the two jackals on the left side still fighting.

Derek attempts to alter this by sniping the sniper before it can do any more damage however he finds it dodging out of the way at the last second.. and he has used 4 bullets so he has to grab his plasma repeater to use instead and fires off a burst from it. His shots spread out too much over the distance and he misses, however the jackal does still dodge.

Then the flankers get to go. The un-wounded one goes first and cackles as it points it's plasma right at Derek and fires... missing him despite his inability to dodge and the close range. The wounded one then notes that everything else has fled and decides to do some damage before it dies, firing at Rouge, it's bolt flies true and he takes a hit on his side. Then they rout too.

All enemies are now fleeing out of the door.

With Nina, Steve and Derek all firing at the retreating aliens only a Jackal, 1 grunt and thr sniper get out of the line of sight.

Jackson doesn't have a medikit now, just bandages, but Rouge is not badly injured due to the previous healing they received and Jackson gets back into the Vitality range nicely.

Everyone else takes stock. There are 5 of them left standing after the defence with two unconscious people nearby (Mik and marine, the guy that came in with you died) they have one working warthog with a gun that seats three and a passenger hog with no gun that sits 6.

They all note that with the sheer number of dead that ammo shouldn't be an issue.

Nina and Steve head out through the corpses and bits of remains to loot what they can while Derek and Rouge assist Jackson with the more badly wounded.

Steve comes away with a full needler and a full spare clip in his belt along with 2 human and two plasma grenades to use later. Nina gets the same numbers of grenades but finds that her rocket launcher is clearly the biggest gun around here, the sniper at the rear of the room in the dead marines hands the only arguable exception. She has two rockets left so loads them into the tube.

Jackson finds that. They have used up the medkits in the area but he still has bandages, basic supplies and his first aid abilities. He makes sure the unconcious survivors are stable and they all get loaded into the rear seats of the passenger warthog before being strapped in place, it will be a bumpy ride but they won't be in an exploding base at least.

Talking of exploding base, just as they strap the last guy in place...

"Self-destruct in two minutes." Can very clearly be heard over the loud speaker.

With the warning timers blaring out between the alarms and quickly counting down to an imminent explosion the team speeds up it's actions. Derek sprints over to the dead sniper and grabs his ammo, filling his current clip and gaining 1 spare clip for a total of 8 shots remaining. He then sprints back to find Nina already manning the turret.

Around this time Steve sprints over and grabs Mik to throw him into the drivers seat when a piece of Mik's armor comes off in his hand. Mik is clearly near dead and practically covered in horrifying burns. Steve also notes that his armour shattered under the last shot meaning it is significantly less effective than before. No armor lasts forever afterall and he knows more than one of them have also taken more than one hit... Jackson who is strapped in beside Mik also notes the broken armor and it's implications.

Rouge then steps up and leaps into the driving seat of the passenger hog, flicking the radio to the spot on the dial marked "Rocking very old classics" in rough pen. It is strange, the entire planet should be on radio lockdown but somehow Falloutboy 'Centuries' still blares out. "Wow this stuff is ancient!" Rouge happily comments.

That leaves one drivers seat and both passenger seats free so Derek leaps into the passenger seat of the hog with the turret and readies his plasma out the window, he can still shoot as they drive afterall, and Steve is left driving the turret hog.

Both engines are started and the hogs are pointed at the doors...

oh *now* you care about keeping our friends alive?!
Fark you Steve.  If you still had balls, I'd "accidentally" shoot you in them.

The engins roar into life with a vengeance as Rouge and Steve floor the pedals and fly out of the large garage doors almost side by side. The doors are designed for the scorpion tank to easily pass through so the two hogs have no difficulty in flying out as they build up towards their max speed on the paved road leading out. Derek and Steve note that they are wondering "Where exactly IS the tank?"

The aliens that had survived the Assult panic, some fire as the vehicles pass while others scatter into cover however a quick curve to the side by rouge and the crystals and plasma harmlessly glance off the side of the hog, luckily Jo charged shots were fired.

As the team speeds away they clearly see the sky for the first time. To the South a large carrier is visible in the skies, flanked by smaller frigates and alien drop ships, some of which are rapidly approaching. There is also a drop ship just off the road dropping off what would have been the next wave of attackers against the garage if they had stayed any longer. In the distance they see more ships, things looks more grim than before.

They now have a choice to make, where exactly are they headed?

(Ooc: please refere to the map for info since it has been so long. There are various evac points and ways to get there. The hogs will reach and maintain top speed and maneuverability on the roads however they are very capable off-road vehicles too and other than being in forest/woods or very rocky areas will still be fast. You can easily communicate through your comms.)

Jackson, suddenly realizing he hadn't actually acted this turn, would like to assess threats to determine which way he should suggest the driver go.

Well, since Steve is already driving north, Jackson has no choice but to go along with it.

Steve swings the wheel hard right and slams down the peddle, turning what could have been an easy course change I to a rather risky skid turn which he luckily makes safely for all involved as the hog leaps off the road edge and onto the shrubby grassland it was laid over. Rouge follows suit with a safer slower turn and cuts in a few metres behind the lead hog.

Their mobility is reduced along with the top speed but the hogs handle the rough terrain very well, keeping up a good pace.

With his position In the back Jackson notes that ahead on the road there are aliens dropping from a drop ship that just swooped down so they managed to avoid that however they are not avoiding the strange aircraft that they saw briefly before which is swooping in right on their tail... Jackson shouts out "Incoming Alien Aircraft!"

Rouge hears the shout through the comms and takes evasive action, they succeed in doing a rather nice swerve followed by seemingly random cornering to try and throw off the aim of the enemy aircraft. Steve realizes that the grunts on the ground are being rapidly left behind on the road and attempts to also do some snazzy manouvers. Steve however pretty much just does a big wide skid, looses control temporaily then finally keeps going straight meaning he didn't make his hog harder tonigt at all.

The Enemy aircraft then shows off it's nimbleness and does a swift barrel roll followed by a backflip to gain height before it's dive-bomb at the rear hog, the one Rouge is driving. Despite the awesome driving skills Rouge displayed it seems like the enemy was still able to follow them and it fires a large glowing orb which steaks towards them like a comet. A comet that Rouge swerves clear of just in time.

The orb hits the ground with a large explosion, it is clear to everyone that they REALLY don't want to be hit by it.

The aircraft then starts to pass overhead, cornering sharply to come by for another pass as Nina fires full-auto at it with her turret and Derek opens up with his plasma repeater.

Nina realizes that her gun is playing up again but a little lucky punch saves it and she fires off a full auto blast, tracking the craft through the sky, sadly missing it, Steve then opens up and fires a full auto blast of his plasma which spreads a little too much at the distance, some coming very close but not quite enough. Rouge then shouts to Nina "Nina, take it down!" And Nina feels a surge or adrenalin, spraying bullets out again, this time leading the enemy just enough to see a few bullets impact it's... Wing like protrusion... Before it dodges out of the way. She is pretty sure she saw some damage though.

Jackson looks all around and notes that their current enemy is definitely going to take another pass but also there are two enemy drop ships closing in ahead of them, he is 75% sure that they are going to cut the hogs off.

Steve righteously keeps going forward, though he slows down a bit so what he intends to do will be easier. Once the drop ships drop their troops, Steve will veer off West, for the escape that laid there for him.

Unless he thinks he can run over whatever the alien dropships put down in front of him, of course.

Steve seems to have managed to see what Jackson was looking at, but what about Rouge?  The medic calls out on the comms to avoid the drop ships.

The enemy craft appears to dance in the air with unholy agility, defying the cadets ideas of air resistance and propulsion. It somehow manouvers into a firing position again almost instantly and fires off a stream of plasma this time, twin cannons staying out the bolts at high speed.

Rouge and Steve however are prepared and easily avoid the Attack as Nina opens fire again with a full auto. She watches her bullets streak right across the front of the craft and sparks start  flying from it's side.

The enemy seems to take enough damage to think better of this engagement and retreats for now...

Rouge and Steve are both alerted to the drops hops again by Jackson's shout. His early warning does indeed leave them a few seconds of decision time even after dodging the enemy aircraft, they could try and swing wide and avoid them altogether, they could try and ram through and splatter the enemy across their reinforced steel raming bars or they could circle close and shoot at them.

As the enemies begin to drop the team sees a whole lot of grunts, two elites and a few jackals leaping to the ground.

Steve thinks over the situation, and decides that his bloodlust cannot be ignored.

"DIIIIIIIEEEEE!" he loudly proclaims, aiming to ram an elite with the car trusting he would want to live more than he would want to stop the car.

Steve has several choices it occurs to him, not just what appeared into his mind suddenly however he chooses the most bloodthirsty option available to him and floors it right toward where the enemy are landing and preparing to engadge them. Rouge has little choice but to follow along and try to do the same, taking the left slightly behind Steve.

Derek fires off a full auto as they approach while Nina blasts off some rounds at the enemy dropship, Jackson keeps an eye on the wounded, the ride is about to get pretty rough one way or another.

With the initiative theirs the hogs plow towards the enemies, Nina's aim is true and she broadsides one of the drop ships, sadly finding that it appears to do no significant damage to the ships hull, just what would appear to be minor cosmetic damage. Derek's plasma then hits one of the crowds of grunts in a sweep that is probably his best shooting to date, 4 grunts take plasma burns, every single one failing to dodge in time and all are clearly wounded.

Then the hogs arrive, Steve aims for an elite but it swiftly dodges aside as the hog clips a grunt and a jackal, sending their bodies flying aside as the rest dodge. Rouge then skids through and hits his target, the second elite. It's shields shatter instantly and it is k Ickes back, injured but alive. His hog then also kills one more grunt but grinding it right under a type before bursting out the other side with Steve's hog.

This seems to have gone awfully well, several enemies dead already and one of their leader injured... However the enemies can still return fire...

Two grunts open fire with large weapons they are carrying over their shoulders. Jackson has the best  Jew from his back seat and one fires a large green plasma ball right past Rouge's hog, then the second heads right for Derek, Nina and Drackalicious. A last second skid avoids the worst of it however it hits the ground near the hog and it spins around, coming to a sudden stop. Steve desperately tries to move again as the fire continues.

Several shots head right for the hog, and the exposed cadets inside. Nina ducks with only a second to spare as a bolt passes where her head had been moments before however several shots impact the hog's side plating. Steve then feels the sudden shock as a green crystal appears in his shoulder before shattering. Derek is on the other side of the hog for the enemies so is not in immediate danger however he also has no line of sight on them until he either gets out or Steve gets the hog moving again.
