Jackson accelerates and swerves away, hopefully avoiding the grunt/getting out of range.

Things take a rather amusing turn with the entire team (bar 1) realizing that the suicide grunts have very very short legs and can't run very fast.

Steve runs away from them as does Rouge. Jackson turns and drives away smoothly while Nina gets the free ride away from the enemy and uses the time to sling the rocket launcher over her muscular, yet femanine, shoulders and uses the mounted turret gun.

One grunt stumbles under the bullets as it keeps running while a second takes the hit to the chest and falls over, clambering to its feet and charging again while bleeding profusely. well limping, badly at least. The third is outside of the arc of fire and keeps running.

That's when the team realizes that Derek didn't get the 'run away from the slow moving suicide grunts' memo and is trying to solo them. Derek shouts "I'll get the final kill xp bonus!" Which is obviously gibberish, as he tries to fire twice at the non-limping grunts. Sadly the second he pulls the trigger on the plasma rifle it overheats and burns his hand badly causing him to drop it. Swearing to himself he pulls round the sniper and hip fires it like a shotgun only to see the bullet miss.

He realizes too late that he is out of time to run and the two grunts get close.

The team briefly hears him over their fire-team channel asking "Did I have any luck points left? I'm sure I saved one..." Before he disappears entirely in a massive explosion caused by 4 plasma grenades triggering almost simultaneously at point blank range.

The wounded grunt explodes seconds later, no-where near anything of importance as the human Attack chopper swings over to see what the commotion is about.

The remaining team has a clear run to the evac...

"Run you fools!" Steve says, following his own advice.

The team bursts through the last small bushes into the open area designated 'Evac Alpha'. There is a pelican dropship on the ground with its rear door open and waiting, several marienes already running in towards it, the team also notices two people in special black suits and armour guarding the flanks of the ramp "ODST" thinks Jackson instantly, the Human races elite drop troops chosen from the best in the military. The flairs make a large ring around the clearing as the helicopter circles around, showing off it's agility to ensure at least 1 gun is always pointing out to ward off threats.

However all these things are simply taken in at a glance, what the entire team stares at is the huge armoured human standing out in the open, right in the centre of the clearing. The instant they move into the open he has a gun trained on them and each of them gets the feeling that they are very glad they are alies not enemies. The watch him snap his attention away from them and onto three grunts that come out of the side of the clearing, they barely have time to register them before the armoured man has already dropped then with headshots from his DMR.

As they get close a marine sprints up to them "You the cadets? Get out of the hog and into the pelican now! Liftoff in 1!"

The team obey and all sprint for the pelican, running close to the armoured... Man? They realize he is over 8 feet tall. Once inside they are directed to their seats and told to strap in "Prepare for liftoff, we blast right to orbit then we are bugging out of the system, blind jump as per proticol." They are told by a man dressed in Admin staff clothing, it's strange though, he seems calmer and more collected than the marines.

The armoured man runs abourd and simply grabs a roof rail, forgoing a seat as the pelican begins to lift off before the door is even closed.

"What about the others?" Jackson shouts over the noise of the engines.

"You are the last" The armoured man replies while looking out the door

"We are the last survivors from the base?" Jackson replies shocked

"From the Planet." Is the reply. The man points out the door and the team sees the city in the distance, multiple ships flying over it with giant beams blasting down and turning it rapidly Into a barren flat wasteland. The door shuts, blocking the horrific view.

As they think on the sheer level of destruction they hear the Admin guy click open a communicator and speak quietly into it "This is Oni 3714, mission complete, no traces left." He then clicks it shut and closes his eyes before speaking quietly to the team "To put it simply, the self destruct looked normal to you and you never saw me on this planet." He then stays silent, the team knowing better than to reply or argue with an Oni agent. They simply stare at the back of the Spartan.
