OK, so...
When I left, I posted that I noticed something interesting about the Con.
What that was - is that a group of local Gamers 'Circle of Swords' that run their own small gaming convention twice a year had signed onboard to run games at Tekko this year. The interesting thing about this to me, is that I've actually been to COSCon (twice) and was negatively impressed by how it is such a 'closed group' of gamers.
What I mean by this is that they all know each other, pretty much play the Living 'This or That' games exclusively and are not very supportive of trying anything new.
I also noticed that the Gaming Schedule was chock full of games this year, due to COS's support. The problem I thought I forsaw however, was that while there was 50+ games (each supporting 6 or more Players), the Sign-up sheets just 1 day before the event only showed 8 Players signed! And they were spread out across 6 or more games with no more than 2 seats pre-reged for any!
What I was seeing was 8 out of 300 seats filled THE DAY BEFORE THE CON! Not a good sign!
So, rather than point this out when I left, I just made note of it here and then went to see what would happen, pretty sure that I would not be running my game.
Turns out I was right unfortunately. And the Circle of Swords guys brought their 50 or so core group of players with them - none of whom bothered to pre-reg - to fill up their games.
Fortunately for me, I had to arrive two hours early to get my free Con Badge and then jumped in on a game of King of Tokyo (a Kaiju Monster Board Game that was just starting).
After 5 minutes of erveryone trying to figure out the rules, they all gave up haha!
I then whipped out my Pittsburgh 68 Card Zombie Game and ran it for them and we all had a pretty fun time.
Then, when it was time for me to run my event (and no one showed up - as I expected, mind you) - I jumped in on a d20 Call of Cthulhu game called 'The Box' that was pretty much Hellraiser and a decent amount of fun. The highlight of it was when my character (a game warden) hid behind Pinhead and stabbed him in the back with the 'dagger' version of the box - sending him back to Leviathan.
Then at the end, we failed to keep the Box closed - made it back to the real world - but were all now Priests of the Leviathan Cult haha!
Anyway - that's my story and I'm sticking to it! (Though for some bizarre reason, a bunch of girls thought I was dressed up as Doctor Who #9 and asked me for a ride in my Tardis)...
