Just got back from taking the little one (16 month old) on her first sled riding adventure
She was bundled up to the point of looking like a pink little sumo, in a whinnie the poo snowsuit. The hill was a pretty good size, but not too steep, which offered a smooth yet long ride at a brisk but not reckless speed. The hike back up was good exercise
I took her down the hill three times. The first time she didn't know what to expect, but by the third ride, she was a little nervous as we slipped over the precipice. At the bottom of the hill each time however, she jabbered excitedly, trying to say the word "ride"
Off to the side of the sled run, I found a tiny bump of a slope, where I sent her down a ten foot stretch into the waiting arms of her older sister. She enjoyed that as well. Not too shabby for her first go at it
